Removed!

I woke up one morning to a message from one WhatsApp group that someone had removed me.

I had even forgotten about the existence of that group! I had no issues with being removed. I was taken off because I was no longer needed, I had served my purpose. After all there is no use clinging to people or things that have outlived their purpose in our lives. Their season is over, and we must move on.

This reminded me about how important it is to know the season you are in and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to show you the right people who must walk alongside you in every season of your life.

In the same way He will show you things in your life you must check out from. Those unnecessary weights that prevent us from running our race and walking in full obedience to God. The writer of Hebrews puts it this way;

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1)

There are weights and there is the sin that so easily entangles. For this post, I am talking about those things that may not necessarily be sin but their presence in our lives can drain our energy, quench God’s spirit and lead us away from where God needs us to be.

For every one of those weights let’s begin to do some check outs.

Whatever it is, put your name there; in Caps, Underlined, Bold and highlighted if you have to! 😄

Here’s mine: EKUA BARTLETT-MINGLE HAS REMOVED YOU!

There are some things we must unclutter our lives from. We can’t move into a new season of growth if we don’t leave behind things we have outgrown or should have outgrown.

There are some relationships you should be happy to let go off, there are some places that your feet should not tread anymore.

Trim those associations that no longer serve God’s purpose in your life. And here I am not talking about sidelining anyone who looks or sounds like a naysayer in your life, or anyone who rubs you the wrong way! We need people in our lives who can tell us the honest, truth to help us change and grow.

I am talking about letting go of those things and yes relationships, that don’t add value to your life or that actually stifle your growth.

Just as a conscientious Platform Administrator will manage a WhatsApp platform for optimum benefit, manage your life for optimum results. Don’t countenance things that won’t help you grow. Remove them and press forward towards your goals.

The Apostle Paul gave us a good idea of how to achieve this in Philippians 3:13-14.

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I  do,  forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

“…forgetting those things which are behind me”. Those things can be both positive and negative things. We can be so immersed in yesterday’s triumph’s that we lose out on the opportunities for growth. In the same way we can be so deflated by our failures that we get stuck and don’t move forward. But you cannot let past successes leave you complacent, and neither should you let your disappointments cripple you! Press on in pursuit of God’s purpose for your life!

Throw off that which hinders your walk with God and prevents you from reaching your goals for your life; be it a weight that hinders or a sin that entangles!  You know them; now name them, shame them, terminate their appointment in your life, determine to remove them and move on up!
