Got a reminder of this 3 year old post on Facebook and decided to share it here. Be blessed.
So as I checked into the airport today my first stop was at the front desk where I handed over my e-ticket and passport and the lady quickly checked the details and ticked my name on her list! Wow! I thought, so if somehow by some glitch my name wasn’t registered I would be on my way back home.
It suddenly dawned on me then that there’s no sneaking in!
Before I could get my Boarding pass, checks were done to ensure I was duly booked. Next stop was immigration (by the way I went through the Diplomat check point – me too I be Diplomat some wai!😊)
Okay, so before I could get to the Boarding Gate, again passport, boarding pass checks. All clear and now I am seated waiting to board the flight.
Off course I know I will still have to show my Boarding Pass to get on the flight.
Hmm…so why all this talk? My dear friend I have been reminded that just as you will not be allowed to sneak onto the flight without the requisite passport, visa etc. so also there is no sneaking into heaven!
Before you gain access to heaven, you need to come in the name of the only one qualified to grant access to His Father’s House, Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
(John 3:16)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
(John 14:6)
Only through Jesus, through accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour will you be qualified for heaven. You can’t pay or bribe your way into heaven! Cornelius gave alms to the poor but he still needed salvation. Good works without Christ can’t get us into heaven.
Moreover our works on this earth will be judged and so we must be careful to live a life pleasing to God once we have made the decision to follow Him.
The book of Revelation chapter 20 verses 12 and 15 further says that;
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
It is a serious thing to think about. Will your name be in the book of life? While you have breath you have the opportunity to seek the Lord, ask for His forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.
You can simply pray; “Lord, I recognize that I am a sinner, please forgive me and receive me unto yourself. I confess you as my Lord and Saviour and choose to live for you here on earth. Thank you for the gift of salvation and thank you for the access you have given me to heaven.”
If you have strayed from Him or your relationship has grown cold, just open your heart and talk to Jesus, He is a God of compassion and He will receive you into His loving arms.
“Lord, I receive your forgiveness today, I reaffirm my relationship with you. Lord, give me the strength each day to live for you and be true to the higher life in Christ you have called me to so that one day I will be with you in heaven!”
So dear friend, none of us knows when the day will come to meet our Maker. But while we are alive, let’s remember that our actions here count for eternity. Don’t think you can sneak in based on church attendance, your offerings, your role in church as a worship leader, pastor, prophet, evangelist, etc. Titles won’t take us to heaven! Only Jesus can save and only those who make Him their trust and walk in obedience to Him will find their names written in the Book of Life.
Is your name in there?
Shalom
